Items of Interest about Connie Brorson

Connie is very proud of her family.  Connie and her husband, Carl have two sons, Stuart and Kurt.   In 1990 Stuart and Kurt each received his PhD.  Connie and Carl enjoy traveling and were able to attend both ceremonies even though their sons lived on opposite coasts.  Chicago artist, Charlotte Burgess creates personalized sculptures that depict a subject surrounded by his interests.  She was commissioned to do one of each of the boys.  These are a part of the Brorsons collection of interesting art.

Connie and Carl used to own a motor home.  In it they traveled over 60,000 miles through the United States, Canada and Mexico.  They have also visited Spain, Ireland, England, Scotland, Israel, Jordan, Vienna, Germany and Sweden.  Carl has taken some excellent photographs of their travels.  Some of these photos are framed and hanging in their home.

Connie's artwork starts out with curving pencil lines.  After she has drawn some swirls and curves, Connie moves the paper until she "sees" what the painting will be.  She then uses black ink to darken the lines she wants to keep and watercolor to bring the painting to life.  Before her 50 year high school reunion, Connie had created a couple of paintings with a red hat theme.  These were to show to a friend who had been celebrating "her 40th birthday" for a number of years.  The paintings were such a hit that Connie had the designs made into note cards.  She then created more red hat paintings and eventually had enough for a calendar.
