More Items of Interest about Connie Brorson

Connie didn't start painting until she was 63 years old.  She minored in art at Ball State University, but took only art appreciation classes, not painting.  She finally signed up for a painting class to quiet friends who kept insisting that she should give it a try.  Connie chose watercolor because she didn't want anything that would smell up the house.  She thought that if she took the class and wasn't very good, that would be the end of the pestering.  But she was good and has been painting since.   Even though she didn't pick up a brush until recently, Connie has always enjoyed art and has a number of lovely pieces.  Some are by other Indiana artists but many are from other areas where the Brorsons lived or visited.

Connie has reproduced many of her paintings on note cards.  Her cards include florals, red hat themes and musical designs.  She has also made holiday cards.  A friend introduced Connie to the creative director of Sunrise Greetings, a division of Hallmark, and now some of her paintings can be seen on those cards as well.

In the summer of 2005, Connie's painting, A Florist's Dream was featured on the cover of Into Art magazine.  Into Art explores fine art and crafts in south central Indiana.  This edition also included an article about Connie by Tom Rhea.
