More Items of Interest about Dorothy Chase

Dorothy, like many artists, has collected art over the years.  She has paintings by other artists, including Jean Vietor and Frank Vietor.  While taking a workshop from Rob Lawrence, Dorothy found that some of Rob's scenes of ducks had been reproduced onto plates.  She has been collecting these and other nature plates since that time.

Dorothy has a lifelong interest in nature, and has a degree in biology from the University of Illinois.  She taught elementary school for 22 years before retiring in 1988.  In the early 80's Dorothy and Rosemarie Southworth were teaching at the same school.  Dorothy says that she has always enjoyed art but was a little surprised when she heard herself ask if she could attend one of Rosemarie's watercolor classes.

Dorothy has painted in oil and acrylics, but is best known for her watercolor renderings of nature scenes.  Dorothy says, "In my paintings I try to capture the simple and elegant wonder found in nature, along with the detailed beauty often seen.  My paintings reflect the splendor found in nature's perfection.
