Catherine often creates a series of works with a single theme. Examples of this are her heart series, doll and teddy bear series, and series of memory boxes. The memory boxes are created with items that suggest memories of childhood. Some are things that Catherine remembers from her own early years and others are things that she thought might stir the memories of others.

Many of Catherine's works include a heart. She did an entire series with a heart theme. When asked about this, she said, "everything we do goes through the heart...the head too, but no one is interested in looking at a brain in artwork." Catherine admits that she wants her work to evoke an emotional reaction from the viewer.

Catherine sometimes creates work themed for particular exhibitions. My Bloomin' Garden is a flower pot with garden implements "growing" from it. Catherine received an honorable mention for the artwork created for the IHSAA 100th Anniversary Exhibit. The work was a full size locker filled with actual sports equipment from decades past.
