Items of Interest about Irene Joslin

Irene says she cannot remember a time when she didn't have a pencil or crayon in her hand.  At a very early age, she was influenced by the works of Eloise Wilkin, and Carl Brock.  Irene recalls sitting for long periods of time looking at Eloise Wilkin's illustrations of Hansel and Gretel or the illustrated Bible filled with the works of Carl Brock.  Now, Irene is illustrating children's books.  She says the goal has been for the commercial art to open doors for her fine (luxury) art pieces.

At the time of this writing, Irene had illustrated 35 children's books in 10 months.  She is even writing a book of her own.  A rough draft of the story and sketches for the illustrations hang on the wall of her studio.  Irene also writes short stories and poetry and enjoys performing in her spare time.
