Items of Interest about Dale Kercheval

Dale's son, Alex, has been the inspiration for many of Dale's paintings and his growth is documented in the art.  Alex, now grown, is an artist and musician.  Dale has works of art that Alex has done through the years, including one of Alex, Dada and Momo that was done when Alex was two and a half years old.

Dale enjoys gardening and grows produce, flowers and even grapes for his homemade wine.  He is a frequent face at the Noblesville Farmer's Market where he sells vegetables and hand painted ceramic tiles.  On the day of this interview he was getting ready to compete in a "paint-out" held at the Farmer's Market.  Dale told us later that he had won first place for a watercolor of people selling corn and apples.

Dale has constructed a number of doll houses.  He makes the six panel doors and working windows as well as the stairways and wooden floors by hand.  He has given the chimney of his dollhouse the look and texture of brick.  He has even painted and framed miniature oil paintings for his doll houses.  Some paintings are his own designs and some are tiny versions of old masters.  Dale also renovates and preserves full size homes.  He added plumbing and electricity to, as well as rebuilt the chimney and firebox of an old farmhouse in Noblesville.  He also renovated his studio, doing his own architectural drawings for permits and building and installing the heating system.
