More Items of Interest about Beverly S. Mathis

Beverly has a collection of sculptural figurines from all over the world.  The collection began with a sculpture from Korea.  Her church supported a children's home there and the sculpture was sent as a thank you gift.  She also received figurines from her brother, a missionary minister.   Beverly has recently started collecting figurines with an art motif.  She has an artist Santa, an artist Easter Bunny and many other art related figures.  She also has a bear from the Teddy Bear Factory in Vermont, a gift from her daughter.  The artist bear sits in Beverly's studio (probably learning new techniques.)

Beverly's painting style features traditional subjects, details, textures and clear colors, but she can also paint loose contemporary abstracts.  She wants to grow as an artist, and to do that, she likes to experiment with different styles and media.  Beverly works primarily in watercolors, and occasionally in pastels, mixed media and calligraphy.  She says that she recently picked up oils for the first time in 18 years.
