Angel enjoys the beauty of nature and
often spends time in the evening watching and photographing a sunset.
He and his wife, Brenda, like to go for a drive and get lost, just
looking at the scenery. Angel values Brenda's advice and support.
He says that she is the one person that understands his passion for art. They have painted together, but Brenda
admits that it is a little intimidating to paint with Angel, because of
his strong sense of color and composition. Still, one of Angel's
most cherished pieces of art is one that Brenda painted while they were
painting together. Brenda prefers to be Angel's cheerleader and to be
hostess for get-togethers of friends and artists.

| Angel was born in Santiago, Chile, but
has lived in the United States for 26 years. He says that Indiana
was the birthplace of the painter in him. Angel went to Ball State
University to become a teacher and took art history and art appreciation
courses, but no painting. Teaching was not a good fit for Angel,
but the love of art remained. In the mid 1990s, he began to paint.
He took his paintings to be critiqued at a gallery that he respected . He took some workshops and developed his own colorful
style. For a while, Angel tried to work with more muted colors to
more closely resemble the Indiana Group, but he says that what he sees
and feels is what he has to paint. His only regret is that much of
his family is in Chile and has never seen his paintings.

Angel is a modest man. When asked
if he had any awards that might be photographed, he said that he had
some in a box in a closet somewhere and in different places throughout
the house. Award ribbons are not that important to him. What
matters to Angel is to know what he has accomplished, finding just the
right scene, color, balance of light and shadow in his art.
