Ron has worked as an illustrator, creating works for local and national publications and advertising campaigns.  His painting of St. Mary's College campus was used on the school's admissions books and posters.  Ron also created a painting for the Fischoff Music Competition.  It was used in posters and the actual painting was auctioned off during Fischoff's charity dinner and auction.  In 1991 Ron designed and painted a mural for the Honeywell Center in Wabash, Indiana.

Ron learned to paint representationally but, after taking some time off, became interested in the manipulation of space and began to do what he calls abstract,  jazzy pieces.  Now Ron works more representationally while still being conscious of the abstract manipulation of space in his works.  "In music, the space between the notes allows us to experience their relationship, as does the space between objects in painting."
