Steve has always known that he
would work in an art related field. He says, "I was drawing and painting
as soon as I could hold a pencil." He attended Herron School of
Art and is still involved with the school as a member of the Herron
Alumni Board. While attending Herron, he was able to spend a
summer at Woodstock with the Art Students League of New York, recalling it as the best summer of his life; "two months in the
Catskills, painting every day." This was prior to the
Woodstock Music Festival and about 40 miles away.

| Steve works as a fine art restorer and
feels blessed to be able to work so closely with great art. He
says that he truly loves his job and enjoys coming to
work. He admits that occasionally a difficult job may worry
him, but that there is great satisfaction in working through any
problems and completing the project. If his
restoration business ever slows down he will have more time to Plein air
paint.

For a number of years Steve worked as a
fancy painter with the Garland Guild, doing decorative restoration on period
buildings. Steve has worked on the Morris Butler Home and the Gene
Stratton Porter Home. He did the gold leafing of the Obelisk of
the War Memorial in Indianapolis and the stenciling and gold leafing on the
Indiana State
Capitol. As his fine art restoration business
picked up, Steve was no longer able to find time for the travel involved
with architectural painting.
