More Items of Interest about Frederick W. Rigley

Fred loves the open road and has traveled quite a bit.  He has owned different travel trailers, but his favorite was the "Jet Stream."  He says it was very aerodynamic and although he had a powerful truck he "never pulled it over 80 miles per hour."  At that Fred smiles that pulling your leg smile that lights up his face.

Fred says he likes to paint standing up.  He enjoys painting on location and recalls a time when he was painting on a windy day in Gloucester, Massachusetts.  He was on a breakwater extending into the ocean, but he had no trouble, even though other artists either fought with their easels or gave up and went home.  Fred had lived next door to Oscar Anderson and uses an Anderson Easel.  In Fred's words, "It is the best easel made for painting on location."

Patricia Rhoden Bartels is like an "adopted daughter to Fred.  She is a friend and a  painting partner.  Some years ago, Patti contacted Fred to get some advice on her own painting.  The friendship has been good for both of them.  Patti's influence can be seen in some of Fred's work as well as Fred's in hers.
