Sally has been painting for 40 years and has enjoyed art since childhood. She recalls receiving extra
credit in school for creating drawings to accompany reports or as
special assignments. For several years Sally had a studio in
Bloomington, but for the past 10 years she has painted, taught and
exhibited in her studio in Nashville, Indiana.

| Sally recalls a girl named Khendra
visiting her studio. Khendra stayed for some time, quietly
watching Sally paint. As she was being watched, Sally was also
observing and finally asked permission to photograph Khendra for a
portrait. The painting captures a young girl's contemplative mood
and has won several awards. It hangs in Sally's studio and,
although she has had offers to purchase the painting, Sally hopes
that it will always belong to her or to Khendra.

Sally was born in Bloomington, IN.
Her ancestors were among the first settlers in Monroe and Brown
Counties. Sally and her husband, Richard, have been married for
over 50 years. They raised four children and now enjoy
grandchildren and even great-grandchildren. Sally keeps
photographs of her family, past and present, in her studio. Her
grandchildren enjoy visiting because Sally shares not only her
time, but her watercolors. Her granddaughter, Andrea, painted a
portrait of Sally and this has a special place in Sally's studio as
well.
