Creston is a member of a number of associations for artists but he is also active in the community. He was president of the Hamilton North Library board during the construction of the new Hamilton North Public Library in Cicero, Indiana. It was a priority that the library not be out of place with Cicero's nineteenth century architecture. The chosen style is Victorian with gingerbread trim and arches on the outside and a crystal chandelier on the inside. Creston gives the credit for the beautiful building to great board members and the architect. The board felt the community room of the library should be free to the community. On Tuesday nights, in the spring and fall, the library hosts a painting group in the community room. Anyone may join, and the more accomplished artists assist the novices.

Hamilton North Public Library

Creston like many artists, has paintings and beautiful objects from other artists. During an artists exchange Christmas party one year Creston was the last person to choose a gift and it was an envelope containing the promise of a head and shoulder portrait done by Roslynn Webb Cady. Creston's daughter Abbey and her dog Annie were inseparable and when Roslynn saw them together, she knew the dog had to be part of the portrait.

Creston not only exhibits paintings at the Indiana State Fair,. He has also won awards for his pottery. He explains a technique where leaves are pressed into the soft clay to give the outline of the leaf as well as the leaf's veins. After painting and glazing, it looks like the leaves are shaped into the piece. Creston has also created award winning blown glass. His most recent vase won first place at the Indiana State Fair. We have no photos of this vase because it was accidentally knocked off of the display table and broken. Creston has even made furniture and has a lovely bedroom suite to show for his efforts.
