April and husband, Scott, have two teenage children, Adrienne and Nick, and a lovable Labrador named Lucki. April works from her home studio while balancing an active career as a painter/illustrator with the demands of family life. The family is active in their church where April and Scott act as an engaged couples sponsor. April and her family also enjoy sports, both as spectator and participant. When she was in the sixth grade, there was no girls basketball team, so April was a member of the boys team. This was about the same time that April became interested in art, and although art eventually won out, she still enjoys tennis, jogging and her spin class.

April has done architectural renderings as part of her freelance work and she and Scott designed their light, open home. On the entry level, the living room, dining room and kitchen curve around the fireplace focal point. At the end of the second floor hallway is a spiral staircase that leads up to April's studio. Although the studio is small, the windows and skylight give the space an airy feeling.

April has worked as a freelance artist in commercial advertising for over 20 years. She has done editorial illustrations, architectural renderings, book covers, note cards and has illustrated children's books. April says now that her children are nearly grown, she would like to participate in more paint-outs and juried competitions.
