David admits that until he joined the
United States Marine Corps he never seemed to finish anything he started. The Marines changed that. David served in the Marines for 7 years
and was honorably discharged in 2003. During his tour of duty,
David visited Russia, Korea, Japan and the Philippines.

| While David was in the United States Marine Corps, he
was a member of the first ground unit to go to Vladivostok, Russia on a
diplomatic mission. The job of the unit was to get to know the
people and to give them a glimpse of Americans. He feels very
fortunate to have been a part of this diplomatic mission and is proud of
the silver flask that he received as a gift from his Russia military
counterpart. Having
grown up during the cold war, it was interesting for David to realize how much the
two cultures truly had in common.

When David is not painting he enjoys
playing his guitar. He loves music and although not a student of
music, he has learned chords on the guitar. He says his best "guitar time"
is after painting and he keeps the instrument in his studio, for those
times.
