When Bill was a youngster,
he saw an advertisement in the back of a wildlife magazine.
Northwest Taxidermy was offering a "two for the price of one"
correspondence course in taxidermy. Bill and a buddy signed up.
Bill's mother helped the boys with supplies and neighbors would bring
animals that hadn't made it across the road and leave them on Bill's
front porch with a note. Later, Bill worked with the Cincinnati Museum to
collect their museum specimens of birds, but now considers himself a "retired amateur"
taxidermist.

| The Waterfowl of North America is
definitely not a field guide. The book is 26"x22"x 2" and weighs
nearly 30 pounds. Bill had a coffee table especially made for
displaying this book. This folio of forty-two paintings of wild ducks, geese,
and swans that nest in North America was published in 1974 by Frame
House Gallery of Louisville, Ky.
